Our work
Daring to Dream’s formal charitable purpose is: ‘The advancement of health for public benefit by promoting the emotional health and wellbeing of individuals (aged 16 years and over) who are under the care of hospital clinics in Wales.’
It is the duty of the charity’s trustees to ensure that everything we do is focused on fulfilling this purpose, ensuring our activities support the emotional health and well-being of adults in Wales living with physical illness.
Our charitable activities are summarised by these three objectives:
- Raising awareness of the need for support of emotional health and wellbeing for all those living with physical illness. We do this in a variety of ways, including via social media, our partnerships, events, including Lleswyl (our flagship wellbeing festival).
- Creating comforting and comfortable rooms, that are interior designed ‘safe havens’ in hospitals for patients, their relatives and the staff who care for them. We concentrate our efforts on Quiet Rooms, Relatives’ Rooms, and Dayrooms on wards. All these rooms are much needed safe spaces for recuperation and respite. Places within which to have tough conversations, rooms within which to safely express emotions.
- Facilitating the provision of services and activities that support the emotional health and wellbeing of patients, be they at home and in hospital. Lleswyl is one very good example of what we are doing here.
