When serious illness strikes, medical care treats the body—but what happens to the emotional turmoil left behind in the quiet?
At Daring to Dream, we believe that supporting the emotional health of the 1.2 million adults in Wales living with physical illness is as vital as their clinical treatment.
Please join our trustees for our annual event on Tuesday 10th November at the Wales Millennium Centre. It is completely free to attend, and it will be a warm, soul-stirring morning dedicated to bringing hidden feelings into the light.

Why This Matters: A Glimpse into Our Week
1. We all need Spaces to Talk
Our trustees spent a morning this week at the University Hospital of Wales, in the Cardiothoracic Unit with Specialist Nurses Sarah Finch and Kindre Morgan. We visited several “Spaces to Talk” that we’ve created right inside the ward areas.
Susan Bennett, trustee, shared her reflections on the visit:
“Hearing directly from frontline nurses brought the true impact of these rooms to life. While it is easy to assume hospitals always have dedicated spaces for families to process difficult news, the reality is that many lack the resources. A private room sounds simple, but for families facing life-changing news, the comfort it provides right on the ward is immeasurable.”
2. We all love Spaces to Sing
This week also marked the return of our “Spaces to Sing” sessions at the Princess of Wales Hospital, working with our musicians and the Care for the Elderly team at the hospital.
“Long hospital stays can be incredibly tough, especially when frailty takes away independence. The ward becomes the patient’s whole community.
Seeing first hand, the joy, smiles, clapping, and deeply emotional responses from patients, families, and staff alike affirmed exactly why we do this.
What started 8 years ago as a simple non-clinical chat and an idea between Nav Masani and me has grown into a resilient charity making a profound daily impact.”
Join Us and Look to the Future
Hosted by the wonderful journalist and broadcaster Siân Lloyd, this event will be an opportunity to challenge the narrative around illness, to distinguish between emotional and mental health, explain why distinct emotional support matters so much, and celebrate our community.
We will also be looking to the future with the exciting launch of ‘Lleswyl 2027 – The Breakthrough Festival‘!
Spaces are limited, so please secure your seat today.
