We were deeply saddened to hear last week of the passing of Lesley Meek, one of Daring to Dream’s very first committed supporters. A lovely lady, who loved her life, and lived it to the full, in spite of so much adversity arising from her congenital heart condition.
We were privileged to have Lesley’s support for our charity.
She understood very well indeed, from firsthand experience of her own many hospital visits and stays, the importance of ‘spaces to talk’ for patients, their families and clinical teams. To have privacy. A space to just ‘be’, to take a moment in.

Lesley was Daring to Dream’s very first VIP guest
We were honoured that Lesley agreed to be our very first VIP guest to officially open our first rooms, on C3 Corridor, in the Cardiothoracic Directorate, at University Hospital of Wales. Lesley is seen here cutting the ‘Red Ribbons’. This took place on the first Friday in March 2020, just ahead of the first national lockdown.
Lesley regularly supported our work via social media as well and stayed in touch when she was able.
Lesley was a VIP guest in our first Lleswyl in 2021.
Lleswyl is our annual livestreamed wellbeing festival.
In our video, recorded via Zoom during COVID, as part of Lleswyl 2021, Lesley tells her own story. She speaks of her love of life, and of her love for and pride in her family. She goes on to share her tastes in music with us all.
Her video is a gentle listen and a wonderful tribute to a lovely lady, who will be missed greatly.
