We are The Emotional Health Charity – and we are Daring to Dream
We had invited Sarah Murphy MS, Welsh Government Minister for Mental Health & Wellbeing to join us at our highly successful ‘Making Space to talk about Emotional Health and Living well with Illness’ last week, but her diary was already over committed.
Instead, she kindly offered to support us with a video, which offer we accepted with alacrity, of course!
Welsh Government’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy for 2025- 2035
This strategy is focused on two core principles of:
a) How to protect and promote good mental health and wellbeing, and
b) How to support people with poor mental health and mental health conditions.
Having positioned ourselves as ‘The Emotional (not mental) Health Charity’, we asked the Minister: “In the context of ‘protecting and promoting good mental health and wellbeing’, how best does the Minister believe that Daring to Dream’s pioneering focus on supporting emotional (and not mental) health for those living with physical illness, contributes to and supports Welsh Government’s strategy?”
Thankyou
Our thanks go to Sian Lloyd, our wonderful host, and our visitors from Bridgend Carers Centre, Wendy and Elizabeth, who spoke so well about the tough side of being a carer.
Thank you also to Drs Nav Masani & Louise Evans, together with Catherine Theron, who together made our clinical panel, explaining so well why our spaces to talk make such a difference to patients, their families and the staff who care for them.
We gave a teaser by introducing Esyin Chew, Haolin Wei and EUREKA Robotics Centre at Cardiff Met. How can Daring to Dream use AI and Robotics to support our ‘Spaces to Sing’?
Sarah Murphy AS /MS, Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing
The Minister’s response is very important; supportive of the role of emotional health in preventing mental illness and very supportive of our work. She talks too of the importance of developing emotional literacy skills, beginning with the Early Years.
We are very appreciative of her support. Please do watch her video below.
We will be sharing our updates soon.
