On Friday March 6th, Daring to Dream was able to invite staff, patients, and supporters to the official “Red Ribbon” opening of the refurbished Relatives’ and Quiet Room within the Cardiothoracic Directorate.
As part of our commitment we intend to refurbish all of the Cardiology ward patients’ day rooms and the relatives’ rooms, turning them into more comfortable and comforting spaces.
We were delighted to announce the completion of the first two rooms, the Relatives’ Room and The Cwtsh, both on C3 Corridor outside the Coronary Care Unit and Ward C3.
These spaces are hugely important to support the wider well-being of patients who often have long stays in hospital and importantly, to support their relatives as well. They are much-needed spaces too for essential patient, family, and clinician conversations; spaces that, at times, provide for very tough and distressing conversations. It is essential therefore that they are comfortable and comforting.
This refurbishment was a collaboration between Daring to Dream, John Lewis & Partners Home Design, Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, the Cardiothoracic Directorate, and the Cardiff & Vale University Health Board.
We extend heartfelt thanks to everyone for their support.
