Amy’s Daring to Dream Ball & Auction
Amy was not quite 22 years old, when she tragically passed away in June 2021; she was born with congenital heart disease, meaning she dealt with loads of treatment in her life.
2019, in particular, was really tough for her with over 100 nights in hospital, 5 major operations and two stays in Intensive Care. 2020 has seen more overnight stays and surgical interventions. 2021 saw treatments and hospital stays continue.
Amy totally understood how isolating these long hospital stays are, even more so for young people, no matter how kind the staff and how supportive her family.
Her own experiences inspired her to want to plan and host the Daring to Dream Spring Ball & Auction, specifically to raise funds to support the emotional health and well-being of young cardiac patients in University Hospital of
Wales. We are delighted to say that Amy’s family are determined to celebrate her life and honour her commitment to fundraising and have decided that ‘Amy’s Daring to Dream Ball & Auction’ will go ahead on September 10th 2022 at voco St David’s.
‘For many chronically ill people, long inpatient stays in hospital are just another thing we have to put up with to survive. So, making those stays as comfortable, comforting, and normal as possible is particularly important. This is even more important for young people, helping to support their emotional health and wellbeing,’ said Amy.
Let’s hold the celebration Amy hoped for and raise funds for young cardiac patients, as was her intention.
