Daring to Dream’s charity single was launched at the Norwegian Church on April 23rd.
Lylia Young, who wrote Here Together, is one of Daring to Dream’s contracted musicians in Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend. They help deliver our Spaces to Sing (fortnightly live music) at the hospital for the Care for the Elderly patients and for those with Dementia.
Here Together was released across all major platforms on 24th April and we held at a launch event at the Norwegian Church the night before.
At the launch we gathered the views from some of our guests; they just loved it:
Kindre Morgan, Specialist Adult Congenital Heart Disease Nurse at University Hospital of Wales said “The song is absolutely beautiful. I think it encapsulates the feelings that a lot of people have of being diagnosed or having an illness and needing that time to talk and to share and to process feelings and experiences. I think it was perfect. It was absolutely lovely.”
Matthew Hampton, a local optometrist “The single was amazing. I was a little bit shocked as I was unsure what to expect, but the music was brilliant.”
Leigh Manley, Creative Writer and Trustee of Daring to Dream “It was just so emotive. It spoke to a lot of the things I have experienced in my own life, if I am being perfectly honest, where needing a Space to Talk is of vital importance, and also having shared spaces where we can get together and support each other through creativity.”
Karen Visser, Senior Physiotherapist, Cardiff School of Medicine “The song just speaks so much about being there for each other, being a support, sometimes just having a shoulder to cry on, or a shoulder to lean on, or someone to talk with and share your feelings with can make a big difference in life. So, I think it’s really important because I don’t think the health service can always provide that, because they are so stuck on having to hit their targets and get assessments and treatments so they can’t really care for that. This is a really important issue that is being addressed.”
