Why this matters:
During Mental Health Awareness Week, we are shining a light on the emotional health of people living with illness. At Daring to Dream, we believe emotional wellbeing is an essential cornerstone of mental health, and that it matters just as much as physical care. People need safe, supportive spaces to talk about what they are feeling.
Living with illness can bring uncertainty, fear, frustration, loss, sadness, and many other emotions.
Emotional health is about recognising, understanding, and managing those feelings in healthy and helpful ways. For people living with illness, this can mean having opportunities to talk openly about the emotional impact of their experience.
Emotional health and mental health
Emotional health and mental health are closely linked, but they are not exactly the same. Mental health is the broader picture, including our emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. Emotional health focuses more specifically on recognising, expressing, and managing feelings, and it plays an important part in how we cope, connect with others, and live through challenging experiences.
How Daring to Dream responds
At Daring to Dream, we believe this matters because the emotional impact of illness is real and should never be overlooked.
That is why we create spaces to talk and spaces to sing, helping people feel heard, connected, and supported as they live with illness.
Hear Us, Sing with Us
Our reel from the launch of our Charity Single Here Together brings this message to life. It reflects the importance of talking about the feelings that can arise from living with illness and reminds us why this work matters so much. We need spaces to talk. We need to be heard. That is the heart of our campaign #HearUsSingWithUs — using conversation, connection, and song to make sure the emotional impact of illness is seen, heard, and shared.
How you can help
If our message speaks to you, please support Daring to Dream as we continue creating Spaces to Talk, Spaces to Sing, and Spaces where people living with illness can feel heard.
