Daring to Dream, together with senior staff at Princess of Wales Hospital, were delighted to celebrate the opening of the Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) dayroom at Princess of Wales Hospital on Thursday 29th January.
A massive spike in infections meant we did need to hold our celebration online, but that didn’t dampen our spirits.
Over the time of liaising with Princess of Wales Hospital, we were able to initially establish our ‘Spaces to Sing’ of fortnightly live music in both the Acute Care for the Elderly Dayroom and the Dayroom for the Elderly with Dementia Dayroom.
We have been doing this for 15 months now – and the feedback is amazing. It really does make a difference to the patients, their families and the staff who care for them.
In November 2025, we finally brought together the refurbishment of the Dayroom in Acute Care for the Elderly.

Pictured above are Head of (Acute) Nursing, Julie Dickinson, Susan Bonnyman, Ward Manager for Ward 5, Caitlin Evans, previous Ward 5 Ward Manager, Barbara Chidgey as we met up with Sarah Murphy MS who was keen to visit and find out more.
The support gained for the whole project has been wonderful.
Daring to Dream is proud to have developed and led a collaboration involving not only Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board’s Estates Team, the COTE clinical team, but also gained essential support from The Lions Club Bridgend, Moondance Foundation and Bridgend Camera Club.
Daring to Dream’s team of musicians, Ffion, Lylia and Lili, who we contract to provide the live music afternoons, are all talented undergraduates from Bridgend College.
This is all about community.
Thank you so much to everyone.
